Every now and then you come across a couple that there was an instant bond with. Right from our first meeting I believe we had this connection with Becky and Carl. We had a fantastic engagement shoot full of fun and laughter, where I had them doing all sorts of silly things. They were game for anything in order to get THE shot. The engagement shoot turned out fantastically well and I was extremely pleased with it, as I believe they were also.
On the wedding day we continued in this vein as if we were old friends, very chatty, having fun. I was in with the boys for a short time because generally speaking, the chap do not take very long to get ready. However, even though there was plenty of activity everything seemed to be calm and going to plan.
Upon arriving with Becky, I was greeted with smiles and laughter, which to me, sums up Becky entirely. I would associate Becky as being a bubbly, lively, fun loving individual and there was oodles of merriment waiting for me at the door when I arrived.
Becky’s sister is a model and suggested to Becky that she must have a boudoir type shoot on her wedding day. What Becky’s sisters didn’t know was that the photographer had never done a boudoir shoot and he quickly became embarrassed and probably turned a distinct shade of red. This embarrassment was quickly followed by thoughts of worry as his wife had always told him boudoir shoots were off-limits! He quickly pulled himself together and put together a very tasteful shoot. Which I might add his wife was okay about it in the end.
I do not think I have ever seen a bride so bubbling over with anticipation and excitement about marrying the man she is in love with. As Becky was getting her dress, on she was barely able to contain herself. It was so beautiful to witness. I see brides and grooms is getting married all the time but rarely do I see the level of raw emotion and love which I witnessed that day.
The ceremony itself took place at the heart of England conference centre, set in some amazingly beautiful grounds, deep in the West Midlands, just outside of Coventry. After what proved to be an emotional ceremony, there were more tears to come when the bridesmaids sprung a surprise on Becky. They had arranged for the group of children Becky teaches to sing, to sing to her on her wedding day. I think you can guess what happened next… There was not a dry eye in the house.
It was a fantastic day with plenty of opportunities for a beautiful reportage wedding photography. Becky’s guests were not shy or intimidated in any way by my presence, which makes photography very easy and extremely enjoyable. I very much appreciate being invited to such a wonderful wedding…congratulations Becky and Carl!
