Wethele Manor hosted a fun-filled, actioned packed wedding party and I was fortunate enough to be the reportage wedding photographer for the day. We had cricket, lawn croquet and even a raging bull! It is always a pleasure to be the wedding photographer at Wethele Manor and this wedding was up there as one of the best. Congratulations to Jess & Chris! I wish you all the best for your new marriage together…
1) Please tell me how you first met?
We were set up on a blind date by our mutual friend Katherine Thomas (who is doing a reading as part of our ceremony!)
I was sat in Hyde Park on my lunch break from work and got a text message from a mysterious Chris after Kat gave him my number and told him I wanted a date!
2) When was it you knew they were the one?
It became apparent that we both loved all of the same things and time and time again we kept coming back together even though I’d decided I was NOT getting involved with someone in the army!
3) Could you give us the story of the proposal?
It was typical Chris – very romantic and well thought out. I had no idea where we were going until we went to the check-in desk at Heathrow… then I started to have a sneaky feeling this wasn’t just any old trip! I was whisked off for a long weekend in Vienna (somewhere we’d both always wanted to visit) – and came back a bride to be!
4) If you don’t mind sharing, can you tell me something quirky, funny or silly about your partner?
Chris has a ridiculous baby voice that comes out every time he doesn’t get his own way! Of course, it’s just him being silly but it has come out more and more in the lead up to the wedding! It doesn’t work on me though!!
5) What is your perfect day together?
Exploring somewhere new together in the sunshine!
6) Apart from the obvious, what are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
Seeing family and friends from all over the world, some who we haven’t seen for many years – we have guests coming from Sydney, Perth, Cape Town, the Caribbean, Texas and Spain!7) What was it that inspired you to go for the theme or the decor you chose for your wedding?
We wanted an American Themed Rustic Barn Wedding, but finding Wethele Manor was almost an opportunity to turn our American Dream into a quaint, cute English Garden version!
8) Please tell me one thing you wish you had known at the beginning of your wedding planning process, that you could pass on to future bride’s reading this blog?
Try to just enjoy the planning and organising process as the big day will be upon you before you know it!
9) When searching, what were you were looking for in a wedding venue?
My Dad actually suggested we view Wethele Manor after we visited another potential venue which Dad didn’t approve of, Wethele was 10 minutes from my parents house and when we pulled up we both thought “Hmm… maybe my Dad does know what he’s talking about!”
10) Could you tell me the process you went through when you were looking for a wedding photographer?
We wanted a wedding photographer that would really capture the moment and catch true emotions and expressions. After meeting with Duncan at his home we were really impressed with his work and his passion for photography we had no doubts that he would do a fab job capturing all elements of our day!
