Wonderful Warwickshire Wedding Photography at the stunning Primrose Hill Farm

Primrose Hill Farm in Warwickshire is an absolutely gorgeous venue. I have known of Primrose Hill Farm for a very long time as I used to ride past it every day on the bus to school. So photographing a wedding here had a somewhat reminiscent feel to it for me. It situated on the side of Edgehill with magnificent views over the Warwickshire countryside towards Burton Dassett Hills and beyond to Coventry and Leamington Spa. It’s the type of view you could sit and look at for hours! I absolutely loved it… 

I started my day in Stratford-upon-Avon and the wedding took place in the Holy Trinity Church. This is the first time I have photographed in this church and I have to say, I was ever so slightly astonished with the sheer size and beauty of this church. It was something else and an absolute pleasure to photograph in. I cannot wait to have a repeat of this wedding and get another chance to visit Primrose Hill Farm. Congratulations Lauren & Jonny! 

Their Love Story 

1) Please tell me how you first met? 
We were first introduced on a night out at the pub in Stratford-Upon-Avon and after some subsequent stalking and patience (on Jonny’s side), I agreed to go out on our first date. I had since moved to London and with Jonny working there too, he treated me to a fancy date at a restaurant/bar called Sketch. The food we ate on our first date, formed the main course on our wedding menu.

2) When was it you knew they were the one? 
The first three years of our seven-year relationship was spent long-distance with me in London and Jonny in Stratford. So it was the genuine feelings of excitement I had every time Jonny met me from work, that made me think he was the one. Plus the fact he always bought me my favourite gingerbread man biscuit!

3) Could you give us the story of the proposal? 
I was convinced Jonny was going to propose when we went to New York for my Birthday, but in fact, I had to wait another year! We were in London on a Christmas break and as I was busy calling out about all the free stuff the hotel had given us, he was panicking as the ring box didn’t fit in any of his pockets. He proposed there and then (not according to the actual plan he had), which I loved as I got to wear my beautiful ring to a celebratory brunch at The Wolseley; somewhere he had booked knowing I had always wanted to go.

4) If you don’t mind sharing, can you tell me something quirky, funny or silly about your partner?
Jonny loves Elvis and does a great impersonation, as proved by the last song of the night when he sang an Elvis song with the band

5) What is your perfect day together?
A lazy day! Lying in bed watching horse racing, placing a cheeky bet. Or taking Solo our beautiful English Pointer out for a walk. Or playing a game of crazy golf – even though Jonny has played golf for 30 years I’m convinced I’ll beat him one day!

6) Apart from the obvious, what are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
Seeing all our family and friends have fun as they help us celebrate the day.

7) What was it that inspired you to go for the theme or the decor you chose for your wedding?
We choose the colour scheme after seeing the colour palette being used on Pinterest (dove grey, blush pink and gold) which my friend Sarah from Elvis and Marilyn used as a basis to design the invites and the rest of the stationery.

The colours were used for the bridesmaid’s dresses, flowers and venue décor too.

We wanted to keep the decorations simple and complement the countryside theme, but we didn’t need too much as the venue was beautiful as it was. We used lots of flowers, my Dad ended up making the apple crate boxes and ladders, whilst the wheelbarrow and bath tubs for the bottled beer were from my Grandparents garden!

As Jonny worked in the fashion industry, he was keen for all the male guests to wear morning suits. We really appreciated everyone embracing the dress code as they all looked amazing.

8) Please tell me one thing you wish you had known at the beginning of your wedding planning process, that you could pass on to future bride’s reading this blog?   
Don’t think you can do it all yourself and keep chipping away at the “wedmin”. You think you’ll have loads of time, but the final few weeks go so fast you wished you’d done the small things months ago! The more time you give yourself, the less stressful the planning will be. I wasn’t stressed at all, only within the last two weeks did it hit me and wondered why I had left some things to the last minute! My Mum was a massive help, coming with me to all the appointments and keeping an eye out for all the things to buy. Although I knew exactly what we wanted, it’s good to have an extra pair of ears to agree with you.
And on the day/approach, if you don’t have a wedding planner make sure you share the itinerary for the day with someone else, other than just the two of you knowing the plans. You will have no idea what time it is on the day, so won’t be able to keep on top of what should be happening and when, or meeting suppliers onsite etc. Our Best Man was amazing at taking on this job and had everything in hand and everyone where they should be. As a couple, you’ll be pulled in every direction, so it was safe to know we didn’t have to worry about anything else other than enjoying ourselves.

And if you have jobs for people to do on the day, don’t forget to tell them! I forgot to tell the bridesmaids the little jobs I needed help with! Oops!

9) When searching, what were you were looking for in a wedding venue?
We were looking for my brothers catering company Ross&Ross Food to produce all our wedding menu as we wanted to choose food bespoke to us. So finding a venue that would allow us to bring our own caterers was quite tricky. But my brother recommended Primrose Hill Farm which was a venue they were an official supplier at. It was perfect as we didn’t want a stuffy hotel conference room, we were looking to embrace our countryside surroundings. It was close to Stratford and as a new venue, guests wouldn’t have been before. We loved how we didn’t feel like we were on a wedding conveyor belt; we had visited some other venues and it felt like we were just a number, one-in-one-out. But with Primrose Hill Farm, we had the whole venue to ourselves for the entire weekend which meant time to set up the day before and we left at our leisure the day after, having stopped over at the onsite B&B.

And as a bonus, we had our second date at Primrose Hill London, so the name connection was a special touch. The converted London Taxi photo booth we had in the evening also played homage to our time living in London and went down a storm with the guests. Very funny to look through the photo album the next day of all the printouts!

10) Could you tell me the process you went through when you were looking for a wedding photographer?
Finding a photographer was hard as there’s so many out there! We were keen to have a photographer that would create relaxed and reportage pics, nothing too staged and could capture the moment. I came across Duncan on Facebook when a friend had liked a blog of a previous wedding he had photographed at, and we liked the type of photos produced. Plus he was really easy going which made life easier when weddings are so crazy and kept us in check to ensure we captured all the pictures on “the list.”
