The wedding of Elizabeth and Samuel was a lovely pat on the back for me before I had even taken a photograph, as they had generously invited me to join them for their wedding in Nicosia, Cyprus. I do not normally photograph weddings in Cyprus during the off-season, but Samuel is very keen on photography and my style matched in with his needs exactly, meaning I was the one!
Stepping off the plane on the 9th March was an absolute delight. The sun was out and the skies were blue. You would have thought this was to be expected being as it is Cyprus, but I have been told it had been miserable for a couple of months prior to my arrival and it had cleared up that day. The luck continued into the wedding day thankfully and we were blessed with a glorious blue sky wedding day. The temperature was perfect, not too hot and not too cold. Just stunning! I think this must have had a part to play in the fantastic atmosphere I experienced all day at Sam and Liz’s wedding. Right from the start, when I arrived at the house for the “getting ready” shots there was a lovely feeling of anticipation in the air. Everyone was relaxed and they were happy for me to go about my job without any feelings of awkwardness. This made the wedding photography very easy, as I was creating beautiful wedding photograph with virtually every touch of the shutter button.
Upon arriving at the venue, the Bride & Groom, in a break from tradition, met with each other pre-ceremony to have some romantic wedding photographs taken together. This was a sensational session with a beautiful quality of light. They were both very natural together and in front of the camera. It did not take a lot of coaxing to get the loving feelings to the surface as they were quite obviously wrapped up in each other. It was wonderful to see…
The ceremony itself was set in the gardens of the venue and was blessed with a fantastic sunset full of colour, beaming down on all the guests. They had a arranged for some lovely, personal moments throughout which I believe makes the proceedings much more special as you could sense there had been a lot of time and thought put into the preparations.
It was a great few days well spent, and for me, it was just the wedding to get my creative juices flowing again for the upcoming season. However, what was most important, I feel, was the new connection I had made with Elizabeth and Samuel. They were such a nice pair who I clicked with perfectly. I wish them all the best for their future together as Mr & Mrs Morgan.
