Deep in the Warwickshire countryside, I made my first (of many I hope) ever visit to Wethele Manor ….and I fell in love. Wethele Manor is a working farm and has a commanding position in the middle of miles and miles of rolling countryside. The main building has been renovated and modernised to an extremely high standard while still holding on to the country farm house feel with an abundance of gorgeous antique furniture and plenty of exposed wooden beams. Very much my cup of tea!
Both Olivia & Nick were preparing for their big day at the venue. This made keeping them apart interesting, but we muddled through and we had a little giggle playing hide the groom. I started with Nick who seemed very much the cool, calm and collected groom. He was on the top floor getting ready and the room was dimly lit and atmospheric. Exactly how I like it! Nick was adding the finishing touches to what was a dapper looking outfit. I was very impressed that Nick managed to pull off a Trinity Tie Knot which I believe is no mean feat considering the wedding day nerves. Very brave indeed!
I came downstairs to find all the girls in the Wethele Suite happily going about preparing themselves for Olivia’s big moment, while the odd glass of bubbly facilitated a good atmosphere. It was a tricky day in terms of weather as the clouds threatened to rain all day. However, this afforded me the stunningly soft light that flooded through the window into a room styled from a bygone era. I have to say, I thrive in these conditions and I loved every minute! My favourite moment came when Olivia was attaching her very long and elegant veil. She was stood in front of the window, which can be a challenge to any photographer. I saw it as an opportunity to capture the subtle light hitting the bridesmaid’s faces while only giving a suggestion of detail on the bride herself.
Shortly after, I rushed off to St Mary Magdalene Church in Lillington, (just outside of Leamington Spa) where I met the awaiting groom, who was flanked by his two brother’s, the best men. They were instrumental in keeping Nick’s nerves at bay as the three of them played silly games and joked together. It was obvious for anyone to see they were very close and the best of friends. I too have an older brother and I know the support they offer is priceless!
After what was a wonderful ceremony in a lovely church, we worked our way through the family photos as quickly as we could just in case the ever looming rain clouds finally decided to give in. I think we were extremely lucky as the forecast was for torrential rain all day long, but we managed to miss any kind of downpour as it started merely minutes after we all went into the lovely and bright marquee. I was not there too much longer but I did hang on for the speeches to witness Nick’s brother’s tear him to shreds. When you have two brother’s for your bestmen, I think you might be playing with fire, but I am sure he would not have it any other way.
Thank you for inviting me to your very special wedding. I wish you all the love and happiness!
