I think for any Worcestershire Wedding Photographer, to be given the opportunity to photograph at an amazing venue such as Warwick Castle, is a great honour. My first reaction was, “Wow! I didn’t know they did weddings there!” and the next reaction was “Wow! I am going to shoot a wedding at Warwick Castle!” I enjoyed every bit of Andrew & Sophia’s wedding and found myself feeling very spoilt with the abundance of locations to shoot their romantic photos. I think I managed to shoot not even a third of the plan I came up with. I wait in hope to be give another opportunity work again at the truly wonderful Warwick Castle….and congratulations Sophia & Andrew!!

Their Love Story

1) Please tell me how you first met? The what, when, where’s and how’s?
We first met in the pantry at the Hong Kong office we were based. There were several admiring glances leading up to this moment but no conversation beforehand. It all began with an innocent question of “Are you cold?” when Sophia was seen standing alone with her hands wrapped around a hot glass of water. Andrew had been in Hong Kong for nearly 1.5 years to fulfil a lifelong ambition to work overseas and Sophia had been back in Hong Kong for 6 months following a working holiday in Australia. We were both assigned to the same project (albeit in different teams) for a short spell and this is where we noticed each other…

2) When was it you knew they were the one? Was is something in particular they did?, Did they grind you down? (joke) etc. etc.
There were no concerns about spending the rest of our lives together. Where as previous relationship experience had led to doubts and concerns, the thought of us building a life together seemed a very simple decision…

3) Could you give us the story of the proposal? Please leave out no details…  (Was it a surprise?,  Was it elaborate?,  How did it make you feel?)
The one knee proposal took place at Blenheim Palace, Oxford on the Grand Bridge. Andrew has a keen interest in World War 2 and in particular Sir Winston Churchill, who was born at Blenheim Palace. It was one of the first locations that we visited on our first trip together to the UK and it seemed right to return their for the proposal. We also later discovered that Churchill proposed to his wife Clementine at Blenheim Palace, which made it seem even more appropriate.

4) Please share what you most love about each other?
The freedom to be ourselves and an unreserved belief that we can both build a strong happy life together.

5) If you don’t mind sharing, can you tell me something quirky, funny or silly about your partner? Little habits, something they do…

6) What is your perfect day together? (apart from the wedding day)
English breakfast in a nice hotel followed by sightseeing in a location that neither of us has visited before. Hong Kong can be very demanding in terms of work pressure and stress so any days where we can both let go are generally pretty awesome.

7) Apart from the obvious, what are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
No more planning! And also the relaxing dinner and drinks while walking around the various State Rooms when all the formal procedures are complete.

8) There are so many different wedding styles you can choose from. What is your favourite wedding trend at the moment?
We’re not really sure what is trending at the moment to be honest but we both like the look and feel of a wedding in a venue that is hundreds of years old with a medieval feel.

9) What was it that inspired you to go for the theme or the decor you chose for your wedding?
Warwick Castle was the first UK destination we visited as a couple and we both thought it was beautiful. We looked at various venues but in the end, it was the only choice when we discovered that our wedding can be held there.

10) Please tell me one thing you wish you had known at the beginning of your wedding planning process?
How complicated it was! We might have got a wedding planner instead 🙂
