Wonderful Wedding Photography at Wood Norton, Worcestershire

The beautiful wedding of Steph & Matt was at The Wood Norton in Worcestershire. Wedding Photography at a venue like this was a real treat for me. Firstly, because it is an absolutely STUNNING venue and secondly, because it literally just down the road from my home in Pershore, Worcestershire. I know the second one is a little selfish, but I think I am extremely lucky to have a venue like this on my doorstep. Hopefully, I will have the chance to visit The Wood Norton many more times in the future.

Your Love Story

1) Please tell me how you first met? The what, when, where’s and how’s?
Steph: We met at Cranfield University where we were both doing our Masters Degrees. The University is post-graduate only and a lot of the students are from continental Europe (and further afield), so the traditional uni sports, such as Netball and Hockey were not available, so I decided to try something different and ended up playing ultimate frisbee where I met Matt.

2) When was it you knew they were the one? Was is something in particular they did?
Steph: I stayed on at Cranfield another 3 years after my Masters to do my PhD. Matt was always there during the ups and the downs of the PhD (which are far to numerous to list) and that’s when I realised that he was the one.

Matt: I don’t really know, I just always enjoy every minute I spend with her and couldn’t picture spending a life without her.

3) Could you give us the story of the proposal?
Steph: We were at my parents static caravan in Berwick for New Years in 2014. I had an inkling that he was going to propose. He was so ill for the few days we were up there, but he insisted on going out for a walk along the cliff tops in the gale force wind! We were talking about life post PhD and the fact my new job was in Yorkshire and he was working in Leamington and trying to work out logistics of where we would settle. As we got to the border between England and Scotland he turned around as said it didn’t matter where we ended up as long as we were together. He then asked me to marry him!

Matt: Yes, pretty much the above although she did not explain that I was full of flu at the time, oh what a sight I must have been. I was very nervous at the time and in my flu like state some how mustered up the energy to ask Steph to come for a walk.

4) If you don’t mind sharing, can you tell me something quirky, funny or silly about your partner?
Steph: He supports Arsenal which is clearly silly (only joking………). He does have more pairs of shoes (mainly trainers) than anyone I have ever known!

Matt: She has a slight speckling of white hairs poking through (family genetics), she tried to deny this for a long time but I think its actually quite sweet.

5) What is your perfect day together?
Just the two of us, going for a long walk on a cold winters day and then relaxing in the evening with good food

6) Apart from the obvious, what are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
Steph: Being able to spend the day with both mine and Matt’s family and friends

7) There are so many different wedding styles you can choose from. What is your favourite wedding trend at the moment?
Steph: I quite like the vintage style weddings

8) What was it that inspired you to go for the theme or the decor you chose for your wedding?
Steph: We wanted a day that was about our family and friends and that wasn’t too fussy or over the top.

9) Please tell me one thing you wish you had known at the beginning of your wedding planning process, that you could pass on to future bride’s reading this blog?
Steph: It is so easy to get caught up in all the extra wedding stuff that you “need”. Sometimes you have to take a step back and ask “Will it make our day better?”, and “Does it really matter in the grand scheme of things?” everyone has different priorities.

10) Could you tell me the process you went through when you were looking for a wedding photographer?
We spent a lot of time looking at wedding photographer websites and got a feel for what we did and didn’t like. We also went to a few wedding fairs where we met a few photographers. A friend is getting married next year and she had also met a few photographers and said she had liked Duncan. He had also photographed the wedding of a friend of a friend, so we could see his photos and we really liked them and his style. We knew wanted someone who we felt relaxed with and when we met Duncan we knew that was the case so it was a really easy choice in the end!
