Emma & Jason
17th November 2012
Wedding Location: St. Lawrance Church, Napton on the Hill, Southam
Reception: Dunchurch Park Hotel, Dunchurch
I booked this wedding under very strange but wonderful circumstances. Emma, who was getting married in the very village I was moving to after living for five years in Cyprus, did a very extensive search to find the perfect reportage wedding photographer. She ended up finding me on my Cyprus website and not my UK site even though I have spent a lot of money on marketing my Worcestershire wedding photography business so it would appear on Google’s search results. It made me wonder why I had bothered spending the money on the UK site. On top of that, the best man grew up in the same village as I did and I knew him from the local pub. I just love what a small world this is.
The day started with Emma getting ready at her parent’s house in Napton-on-the-Hill, near Southam in Warwickshire. It was a lovely atmosphere and all were in great spirits mixed in with a splash of nerves for what was to come. Emma had four bridesmaids who were all buzzing around with the usual makeup and hair craziness that I usually capture as a photojournalistic wedding photographer. This all took place under the watchful eye of her Father who heads up the local Photographic Society in Leamington Spa. He is a lovely chap who coincidentally walks his dog past my house, so we now speak on a regular basis.
After getting some great shots of the usual bouquet, bride’s shoes and the other moments that the bride would want captured, we went up the village to witness a beautiful marriage. Unfortunately I was unable to use any of my reportage wedding photography skills during the wedding according to the rules of Reverend Michael. Nonetheless, it was a great service and a pleasure to be a part of especially as it was in Napton.
From there we went to Dunchurch Park Hotel. I have driven past this venue a few times and thought how much Dunchurch Park Hotel weddings would be marvellous for me to shoot. I was ecstatic that I finally got my chance as one of the many Rugby wedding photographers. Dunchurch Park Hotel is a wonderful Grade II listed Manor House in Dunchurch, near Rugby in Warwickshire. It is set within a beautiful and peaceful estate with over 72 acres of landscaped gardens and grounds which include a lake and a fountain. It would be any Worcestershire wedding photographer’s dream to be hired for that location shoot and of course I had to take advantage of the beautiful scenery that was handed to me on a plate by taking a few shots by the lake. It was such a pleasure to shoot in this captivating venue as it provided the romantic feeling and backdrop for photojournalistic wedding photography. Emma & Jason were a great couple to shoot as they gave me the freedom to express myself; which I think shows in the photos I captured for them.
The party was great fun, with plenty of atmosphere and the drink was flowing freely. If you check out the pictures on my page, you will see some shots I captured at the reception. It just made for a great party vibe and lots of camera fodder.
