This was my first time photographing a wedding at the Jinney Ring. Wedding photography at a venue such as this, always excites me. As a wedding venue, I love how unique it is. With it being in such a beautiful rural location will always help too! The Jinney Ring Craft Centre, near Bromsgrove in Worcestershire, will always let their couples bring out their creative side and put their on stamp on their wedding. This invariably will lead to a more chilled, party atmosphere which will lead to me having the chance for amazing photography. Win win!
Going back to the start of the day, it is always nice to arrive to find a calm, relaxed environment, with everyone getting on with ensuring they look their absolute best. This is what I discovered on the day of the wedding. If she was nervous, she did an excellent job of hiding it! It was a lovely morning of chatting, laughter and bacon sandwiches. My only regret is not saying yes to a bacon sandwich. haha!
I also had the pleasure of working alongside the lovely Kirstie from Destin Hair and Beauty in Redditch. She was did such a great job and was a great calming presence during the morning.
I had an amazing time photographing at the Jinney Ring. Despite there being a bit of rain in the evening, it did not spoil any part of the day and it was because of the rain that we managed to get a lovely shot at the end.
If you are getting married at the Jinney Ring, please give me a shout as I would love to have the opportunity to go back and photograph there again!
1) Please tell me how you first met?
We were in the same group of friends at High School and, so we started as friends really. We just spent more and more time together and it went from there!
2) When was it you knew they were the one?
There wasn’t one particular moment, there have been hundreds of moments when we’ve realised how much we mean to each other.
3) Could you give us the story of the proposal?
It was a complete surprise! We were on holiday down in Cornwall and went out for an evening walk on the headland at Godrevy Point on the premise of seeing a good sunset (it was cloudy). Jacob got down on one knee and the rest is history!

4) If you don’t mind sharing, can you tell me something quirky, funny or silly about your partner?
Marie used to cut my hair when it used to be long because I refused to go to the hairdressers.

5) What is your perfect day together?
A walk along the coast with a stop at a deserted beach!

6) Apart from the obvious, what are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
As we’re really into our food a big sit down dinner with close friends and family will be amazing!

7) What was it that inspired you to go for the theme or the decor you chose for your wedding?
What we like best is to be outside in our wellies walking or on a beach somewhere, so we wanted a countryside venue that reflected this rustic vibe.

8) Please tell me one thing you wish you had known at the beginning of your wedding planning process, that you could pass on to future bride’s reading this blog?
Not sure yet!

9) When searching, what were you were looking for in a wedding venue?
Yes, location eventually played a big part. We looked at quite a few barns and rustic wedding venues but they didn’t really mean much to us. We walk regularly around Hanbury, usually starting at the church so the Jinney Ring is always a feature. Marie used to visit the Jinney Ring with her grandparents, so it has good memories attached.
10) Could you tell me the process you went through when you were looking for a wedding photographer?
We used Google and Facebook and set up a spreadsheet listing around 20 photographers. We then scored every one we found based on how much we liked their photographs and came up with a top 2. We met with the top two and then picked the person we liked best. We were impressed with Duncan’s knowledge of camera equipment and his style of photography had a real affinity with what we were looking for. It was great that Duncan was happy to talk about his photography kit in detail, which alongside his portfolio really gave us confidence in his abilities.
