I think with any job, it is nice to have a little bit of variety. As a Worcestershire Wedding Photographer, to be given the opportunity to photograph a wedding in the Lake District was amazing to me. Anna-Marie emailed me about a year ago asking me if I would consider travelling up there and told me I was her “dream choice” for a photographer. After consideration (lasting zero seconds), informed her I WOULD ABSOLTUELY LOVE TO COME!!
Anna-Marie was a bridesmaid at a wedding I photographed a couple of years earlier ( Hi Debbie & Shane!) and was the very keen catcher of the bouquet that day. Even though it is thought of as one of those little traditions that you just do at a wedding, Anna-Marie and Gary were next to be married. So maybe it is true?!
Although it did rain on the day, the sun came out in just the right places and we were able to visit Lake Windermere for a quick shoot and get all the family photos done too. All in all, the day itself had an electric atmosphere, with plenty of super friendly guests who very welcoming and chatty. I feel very privledged and honoured to be invited to such a lovely wedding. I wish you all the best for your future Anna-Marie & Gary! Congratulations!!
1) Please tell me how you first met? The what, when, where’s and how’s?
We first met 10 years ago, when we worked in the same building. We went on a date following a christmas night out, the rest is history as they say!!
2) When was it you knew they were the one? Was is something in particular they did?, Did they grind you down? (joke) etc. etc.
I knew something was different on our first date. I fell over within 5mins of him picking me up and I wasn’t embarrassed at all!!!
3) Could you give us the story of the proposal? Please leave out no details… (Was it a surprise?, Was it elaborate?, How did it make you feel?)
The proposal was a surprise, Im still not quite over the shock!! He took me on a surprise trip to the lake district for my 30th birthday, he proposed the night before my birthday on the shores on the lake. I was shocked but enjoyed every minute. I will never forget the thought and detail he put into it.
4) Please share what you most love about each other?
I love that Gary makes me laugh everyday. He is a very kind, thoughtful and humble person.
5) What is your perfect day together? (apart from the wedding day)
A day off together is very rare, so we both enjoy it when we can. A day of not doing much at all, just driving out to a cozy country pub for lunch, a walk in the park.
6) Apart from the obvious, what are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
Spending time with all our closest friends and family, we don’t get to see some people as much as we would like to.
7) There are so many different wedding styles you can choose from. What is your favourite wedding trend at the moment?
I don’t really follow trends, but I quite like the vintage tea party/village fete look. (Even though we didn’t do that haha)
8) What was it that inspired you to go for the theme or the decor you chose for your wedding?
We both wanted our wedding to be authentic to us. We have tried to add personal touches to everything. I was inspired by vintage weddings, our engagement location, and my Nan’s garden.
9) Please tell me one thing you wish you had known at the beginning of your wedding planning process?
I don’t think there is anything I wish I had known, but my advise to other people would be, to enjoy the process and to not get mixed up in what the wedding industry ‘tells’ you to do. Plan your theme etc around what means something to you as a couple not what what the magazines tell you the latest trend is.

Hi Duncan
I can now see why Anna-Marie insisted that they used you as their photographer for their big day. From the moment we met you on the Friday night we knew that it was the right choice. You fitted in so well making everyone relax with your friendly personality and sense of humour. Thanks for everything and we can’t wait to see the full album.
