Photographing Danielle & Adam’s Worcestershire wedding was a memorable one for me personally. It was so nice to go to a wedding where everyone was so friendly and personable. There wasn’t one person who didn’t take the time to either talk to me or to just say hi. It so was lovely! There was so much laughing and LOADS of partying that it made my job a joy. When there’s so much positivity surrounding a wedding you cannot help but get swept away with it… This is one of the perks of my job I think. Getting to meet and hang out with such special people like Danielle & Adam, not to mention all their friends and family, my job becomes a real privilege. Add all that to the lovely location of Brockencote Hall Hotel and we had a real winner on our hands.
It was my first time at this gorgeous venue! There were so many spots for pretty photos…even one or two spots where we shouldn’t have been, but that is another story. Enjoy the Brockencote Hall Hotel wedding photography below and a massive congratulations to Danielle & Adam!
1) Please tell me how you first met?
We met through friends, while Adam was travelling around New Zealand for a few months I started hanging out more with his friendship circle so he had a surprise when he came back from travelling to find someone else hanging out with his friends. We would all go out together bowling, for meals etc. Adam apparently liked me for a long time but clearly didn’t have the nerve to ask me out, as it took one of his friends to message on our group chat, while I was on a friends hen do, asking if I’d go for afternoon tea with Adam. Obviously, we just thought it was a bit of joke, and it got forgotten about. Eventually, Adam messaged me to apologise and then asked if I wanted to go to the cinema to see a film called ‘Focus’. Our first date is pretty much how we are now, me waffling far too much and Adam politely listening; the rest is history.

2) When was it you knew they were the one?
Dani – Adam’s so easy to get on with, we just chat for hours without running out of things to say. He has a great sense of humour and is so kind. We just instantly connected and I knew early on that we had a special connection.
Adam – I think, as corny as it may sound, I knew Dani was “the one” from basically the moment we first started dating. She’s so easy to talk too which made it easy for me to relax and be myself, which she puts up with very well. We also seem to share a similar sense of humour which helps us entertain each other over really mundane things, and has led to many laughing fits whilst cooking tea.

3) Could you give us the story of the proposal?
It was the weekend after my birthday, and we’d arranged to go out for dinner for what I thought was my birthday. Adam had been acting a bit strange after my birthday, and I kept thinking he was still hiding something. We were getting ready, I was straightening my hair and Adam asked me to come into the bedroom. Me being me, I was thinking I just need to finish my hair off, but as I came round the corner, Adam was getting down on one knee and asked me to marry him. Obviously I said yes and there were a couple of tears. We had a lovely meal, with a celebratory bottle of bubbly. The ring was perfect, even if it was a little on the big side.

4) If you don’t mind sharing, can you tell me something quirky, funny or silly about your partner?
Adam and I are probably both a bit silly and we have crazy moments where we just start dancing or singing the kitchen together. We are just pretty silly together, to be honest.
Dani has an amazing memory about the things that we’ve discussed and talked about, and often things that we haven’t actually discussed but must have happened internally in her mind. This would be ok if I could point out that we haven’t discussed this as I have no memory of talking about that topic. However, Dani can be a bit stubborn and good in an argument, so much so that I usually come out at the end apologising for not paying attention to an imaginary conversation.

5) What is your perfect day together?
Our perfect day definitely involves an afternoon tea. I’ve always loved afternoon tea, and for Adam’s first birthday with me, we went to London to a place called Balthazar. From then on, Adam now shares my love of afternoon tea, and where ever possible we’ll have one. Add in a trip to a National Trust place and that’s a perfect day together for us.

6) Apart from the obvious, what are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
I think we are both looking forward to having family and friends together, as it’s rare for everyone to be together in the same place especially with Adam’s extended family being spread out. Being able to see everything come together, as you provide your ideas to the florist for example, but you don’t actually know how it will all look on the big day. Sampling the cake was amazing, so actually eating the cake. Oh, and lots of dancing!!

7) What was it that inspired you to go for the theme or the decor you chose for your wedding?
We don’t have a specific theme for the day; we have some colours in mind – green and purple. Purple is my favourite colour and green being Adam’s. Adam works with eucalyptus trees, therefore we added some touches of this into the day – the ties and pocket squares have eucalyptus print on them, and it’s in the flowers. We’ve been collecting spirit bottles for months, which will form our table centrepieces as well as the names for our tables. We are lucky in the sense that the venue doesn’t require too many extra touches decoration wise. The bridesmaids will be in green. The cake is an important factor, seeing as both of us love cake; this will involve purple and a special cake topper: A Mr and Mrs Flamingo.

8) Please tell me one thing you wish you had known at the beginning of your wedding planning process, that you could pass on to future brides reading this blog?
That yes the details do matter, but getting caught up with trying to please everyone, is actually really hard. And at the end of the day, as long as the two of you have what you would like and are happy with the decisions you make; then actually everyone else has a great day alongside you both, as they can see the bride and groom are enjoying themselves.
Oh, and one other thing, just enjoy the planning and the day.

9) When searching, what were you were looking for in a wedding venue?
There were a couple of main points we wanted from our venue, one was nice grounds, and the second was having the option for wedding guests to stay over. We looked around a couple of venues, but when we walked into Brockencote Hall Hotel, we both just felt like it worked for us. There was enough space for the guests but not so much that everyone was spread out. We aren’t the artiest of people; therefore the décor of the venue was perfect as we just needed a couple of extra touches.

10) Could you tell me the process you went through when you were looking for a wedding photographer?
I love photos and when we first started looking for a photographer it was hard to know what to look for or what you want from wedding photos. I knew I wanted some posed photos with family, but I didn’t want loads of posed photos. We came across Duncan via a family member who was able to show us a whole Wedding album that Duncan had done for their relative’s wedding. We instantly liked the photos because they told a story of the Wedding day, and showed all the emotions of the day. We decided to arrange a Pre-Wedding Shoot, which we would highly recommend; it helped Adam including I get to know Duncan and to understand what Duncan looks for with a photo and it just prepares you for the day.
