There are few things that bring a natural wedding photographer more joy and fulfilment – both personal and professional – than the opportunity to capture this momentous occasion in a couple’s life amidst the backdrop of rustic elegance and gentle light. With that, I would like to thank Bryony and John for providing this perfect combination when they hired me as their wedding photographer.
The couple was already familiar with my natural wedding photography through friends – Cathy and Andy -who had also hired me to shoot their wedding in Cyprus. They say referrals to friends and family are the best sort of compliment a wedding photographer can receive, so many thanks to both couples on that end.
The happy couple’s chosen venue at South Farm, Royston, Hertfordshire, could not have been more perfect. With such quaint elegance and natural beauty abounding, I imagine any Hertfordshire wedding photographer would jump at the chance. It did not turn out to be a sunny day by any means, but the soft, natural light created by the overcast of clouds was wonderful to work with as it brought the blossoms on the trees, as well as the bride and groom, to the forefront of this quaint, country canvas.
The wedding reception was held in the Tudor Barn, which is one of several classic venues at South Farm. The entire event took on a relaxed kind of elegance that comes through simplicity and attention, not only to detail, but also to the way in which all elements blend harmoniously with the natural beauty in which they are set. And it’s my job as a natural wedding photographer to capture all of these elements in a way that visually expresses that harmony; that perfect blending of simplicity and elegance; not just the faces of the people who were a part of the Bryony and John’s special day, but the emotions behind the eyes, the good wishes behind the smiles. The venue at South Farm added a multi-dimensional element to this which I embraced wholeheartedly, as joy among the group became almost tangible.
It’s no wonder that South Farm has been featured in Sawdays Special Places and Conde Nast’s “Top 100 Venues” list. This venue is a dream-come-true for any Hertfordshire wedding photographer, and natural wedding photographers, in particular, will find plenty of intriguing elements with which to work. But what’s more beautiful than even the most elegant wedding at South Farm is the love between the bride and groom, supported by that of those surrounding them on this very special day.
