This Stanbrook Abbey Wedding was a little different, in that they were already married and had been for nearly a year. However, their “real” wedding was a much more low key private affair and this was more of a celebration of their marriage. Something to enjoy with friends and family, but with some lovely personal touches along the way. There was a lot more time before their ceremony than I am used to having and we managed to squeeze in a lot of portraits and more importantly, the “First Look”! The First Look is something done more regularly in America and Asian countries, so it was nice to get the chance to do this myself. My hat goes off to Esther for being incredibly brave for this part, as we did the First Look in Stanbrook Abbey‘s Lavender Garden. It was alive with busy buzzing honey bees, looking for pollen! There was even one or two caught up in the layers of her dress afterwards! Very brave indeed!
Stanbrook Abbey was blessed with gorgeous sunshine for their wedding celebration. Couple this with how fantastic Kevin & Esther were in front of the camera, I think I may have been a little spoilt while taking these wedding photos. Congratulations both!
1. Please tell me how you first met?
Kevin’s dad introduced Esther to Kevin, as she was working for his Dad part-time. One day, Esther was walking towards the shop and Kevin was there. That’s how they met. It’s like fate, haha.

2. When was it you knew they were the one?
It’s more of a mutual thing when it comes to finding the right person. We hit it off straight away and everything else just flowed along the way. You just know she/he is the right one…

3. Could you give us the story of the proposal?
In terms of the proposal…. We have to say it was pretty boring but this is who we are and how we live our life! Nothing special, nothing romantic in a traditional way… Kevin went down on his knee, as Esther was too excited about seeing her engagement ring, which just arrived in the shop, lol.

4. If you don’t mind sharing, can you tell me something quirky, funny or silly about your partner?
About Kevin: there is a little princess living in his body and he really enjoys his bubble bath !!!
About Esther: well according to Kevin, Esther is perfect and that’s very annoying…..hahaha

5. What is your perfect day together?
Perfect day: a lazy Saturday, wake up late and lying on the sofa, watch a movie together and then have a take out for the night.

6. Apart from the obvious, what are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
Esther: having good photos taken so we can always look back and put a smile on our face.
Kevin: don’t like being the centre of attention, feeling nervous….

7. What was it that inspired you to go for the theme or the decor you chose for your wedding?
Just wanted something simple, classic and represent our personality….

8. Please tell me one thing you wish you had known at the beginning of your wedding planning process, that you could pass on to future bride’s reading this blog?
We don’t have any advice really… because we are still trying to figure everything out, but if we have to pick one thing.. then that would be saving more money hahaha

9. When searching, what were you were looking for in a wedding venue?
When we walked into Stanbrook Abbey for the first time with Kevin’s parents, we all instantly fell in love with the interior and exterior and we know this is our wedding venue. It’s also very near Kevin’s parents’ place. So it was perfect and a no-brainer. The venue is also the perfect combination of modern and classic. Can’t wait to take good photos in there!

10. Could you tell me the process you went through when you were looking for a wedding photographer?
When it comes to picking a supplier, we were more focused on personality. At the end of the day, you don’t expect just good photos taken, but also making the whole wedding preparation process enjoyable. We were enjoying talking to Duncan when we had our meeting and it seems he knew what we wanted straight away and we were sure he is the one we want to go for. We decided once we had a meeting without a second thought.
