The marriage of Sarah & Sam took place on the 29th October 2011 at the Brownsover Hall Hotel, just outside of Rugby. It was by far more meaningful to me personally as it was my Aunt being married this day and my whole family were present. This was my first time being Mr. Photographer in front of anyone from my family apart from my wife Jo. I have to say I was a little nervous as it was very unusual for me to have my work head on in front of them. However, it was terrific to be able to make lovely photographs for the ones I love, dressed in their finest.
Brownsover Hall Hotel near Rugby, is an absolutely glorious location, lost in the Warwickshire countryside. You really get a sense that you are in the middle of nowhere, nestled in amongst the trees. When you see the hotel outside and in it is breathtaking and it is clearly evident the hotel is steeped in history. With the sumptuous red walls with gold trim, the large Gothic windows and the large open fireplaces, Brownsover Hall created a wondrous atmosphere for Sarah & Sam’s wedding. For me, it just spoke of English-ness….and it was beautiful! With the Autumnal theme for their wedding day, it only served to enhance this atmosphere. The day itself ran very smoothly with plenty of fun activities for the guests to do. We all had fun, but the main thing Sarah & Sam had a great day and it finished in high spirits.
After shooting weddings in sunny Cyprus beach resorts for last 4 years, the difference is black and white in terms of the way I had to approach the wedding in terms of photography. The challenge of the light was invigorating to say the least. In Cyprus, you take it for granted the sun will be shining and it will be shining hard! This was Warwickshire wedding photography at the end of October and there must have been three layers of cloud. Most would say this is not the best weather for photography. I disagree! I absolutely loved the beautiful soft light flooding through the large windows. As you can see from the photos below, the light seems to come through the window and wrap itself around the subject lovingly. I cannot wait for more weddings like this one….
