Their Love Story

1) Please tell me how you first met?
Lisa: We briefly met on a night out on June 25th 2009. I was out with friends when I found out Michael Jackson had died and of course had to tell my friend Darren (and his good looking friend Glenn) who were also at the same bar. I didn’t really think much more of it at the time. Sorry Glenn!
Glenn: A few weeks later we bumped into each other again at the same bar and got chatting. Lisa didn’t think I would remember her, but I did, she was “the pretty girl with the curly hair”. She still is.
Lisa: Long story short, I knew he fancied me so I got his number the next day and we went on our first date a few days later. There is so much more to it than this but it a long, long story.
If you were to ask anyone else how we met they would say that we met at the cricket club where I worked… that would be a much easier story to tell.

2) When was it you knew they were the one?
Lisa: With Glenn being in the Navy he goes away for long periods of time. After dating for 1 month I moved to London for Uni and Glenn went back to Scotland for work. We talked all the time, but didn’t see each other for another 3 months. It was when we met up again that first time and I saw him waiting for me at the top of the stairs at the train station that I realised that I did really like him. I don’t know when I knew he was the one, but that’s when I realised he could be.
Glenn: We’re still seeing how it goes… pretty well so far.
Lisa: That never gets old.

3) Could you give us the story of the proposal?
Lisa: Glenn proposed on the balcony at our hotel over looking the Grand Canal in Venice in September 2014. I was pretty certain he was going to propose to me on that holiday, he knows how much I love Venice. As I was so sure, I had packed a choice of really nice dresses to wear each evening so no matter when he proposed I would look pretty. Except I didn’t think it would be on the first night… I was wearing the jeans and tshirt I wore on the plane.
Glenn: Originally I thought our hotel had a rooftop terrace so I planned on proposing there. Turns out they didn’t so I had to change my plans to the little balcony, still pretty, just not much kneeling room. I wanted to propose on the very first night as I was so nervous about losing the ring…anyone that knows me knows that was a strong possibility. I didn’t know Lisa kind of knew already otherwise I would have told her to wear a pretty dress… but I think she looked beautiful in jeans.

4) If you don’t mind sharing, can you tell me something quirky, funny or silly about your partner?
Glenn: Her Diddy Kong dance! I dont even know how to explain it.
Lisa: He drinks more tea than anyone i’ve ever known, crazy amounts.

5) What is your perfect day together?
Walking around London, getting lost and finding new places. More often than not we end up having a walk across Hyde Park, looking at all the puppies we can’t own (silly flat living) and getting a scone from the V&A Museum. We are not ashamed to admit that we no longer even pretend to look at the galleries, we go straight to the cafe. They do the best scones.

6) Apart from the obvious, what are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
Having all our family and friends together… but that’s pretty obvious. So the Pig Roast (extra apple sauce for Lisa) and the Ice Cream cart. We do like our food.

7) There are so many different wedding styles you can choose from. What is your favourite wedding trend at the moment?
Glenn: No idea…
Lisa: A modern style, i’m not too keen on the traditional.

8) Please tell me one thing you wish you had known at the beginning of your wedding planning process, that you could pass on to future bride’s reading this blog?
Stick with your gut feelings… they are pretty much always right.

9) Could you tell me the process you went through when you were looking for a wedding photographer?
Living in London, Glenn working in Scotland and the wedding being in Warwick meant that going to meet photographers first hand was really tricky. Instead we spent a lot of time looking at photographers who had worked at the Warwick House before so we could get an idea of the shots they would take on our day. One thing we knew is that we wanted very natural photographs which is why we chose Duncan Cox in the end. As well as this, being January, we knew it would be dark and that the weather may not be great and Duncan’s night time shots really captured the style we were after especially his shots outside of Warwick house.
