My day started at Old Castle Farm in Colwall. This is a gorgeous former wedding venue, nestled into the foot of the Malvern Hills in Worcestershire and as you can probably imagine, the surroundings were outstanding. Following their wedding at Colwall Parish Church, you can understand that I felt ever so slightly spoilt upon arriving at the AMAZING, jaw-dropping Birtsmorton Court for their reception. I have never been to venue with a moat! Ha ha! Any Worcestershire wedding photographer would be ecstatic to be booked for such a venue. With it being just down the road from Pershore (where I live), this was a win win scenario for me. I hope to visit Birtsmorton many more times in the future as I completely fell in love with this venue! Thank you for inviting me to your wonderful wedding Helen & Sam….Congratulations! 🙂
1) Please tell me how you first met? The what, when, where’s and how’s?
We are an online dating success story thanks to eHarmony and our mothers (and friends!) for their persistent persuasion to give it a go! We met for a drink one evening in Birmingham where I lived at the time, both assuming we’d chat for an hour or so. 4hrs later and Sam only just made the very last train back to Derby. I think we both knew we were onto a good thing from there on in.
2) When was it you knew they were the one? Was is something in particular they did?, Did they grind you down? (joke) etc. etc.
It just felt right. No doubts, no second guessing. No thunderbolt moment as such. We could both see that we worked well together and made a strong team together. And before I realised, I couldn’t imagine my life without Sam.
3) Could you give us the story of the proposal? Please leave out no details… (Was it a surprise?, Was it elaborate?, How did it make you feel?)
The first proposal was a complete surprise. Sam and I had been out with friends, and we stayed on a little later chatting over cocktails. We started talking about the future, and all of a sudden he told me that he knew he wanted to marry me and asked if I wanted to marry him. I was caught completely off-guard, but said yes without a moments hesitation. But I did insist he did the traditional thing and asked my Dad first and then ask me again.
4) Apart from the obvious, what are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
We’re both looking forward to walking out of the church together as Mr and Mrs. Then Sam’s looking forward to the meal as the food from Belle House is fantastic. And I’m looking forward to our first dance.
5) What was it that inspired you to go for the theme or the decor you chose for your wedding?
Right from the beginning we both said we wanted to get married in autumn as we love this time of year. For me it’s the rich colours of autumn and often the bonus warm weather, and for Sam
it’s the beginning of cider season!
