Stratton Court Barn is a beautiful wedding venue in middle of the countryside near Bicester. Any Oxfordshire Wedding Photographer would be over the moon to visit such a lovely location for a wedding. Bronwyn & Alex’s decorated their wedding in an English country garden theme with tea and cake served to their guests. This was a wonderful break from the norm and made for some wonderful photographs. It was a pleasure to be invited to witness such a lovely couple say their vows to each other. It was plain to see how much they loved each other and it was so nice to see how Alex doted on Bronwyn. Congratulations and enjoy America!
1) Please tell me how you first met? The what, when, where’s and how’s?
We met online almost three years ago, and after chatting for a while through emails (and Alex almost losing his opportunity to meet the love of his life!) we met for real at a local pub. The rest is history!
2) When was it you knew they were the one? Was is something in particular they did?, Did they grind you down? (joke) etc. etc.
Alex – I knew Bronwyn was the one the moment I first saw her sat on the wall outside the pub as I drove in 5 minutes late!
Bronwyn – I knew he was the one on the first date when we had met for a ‘quick drink’ at 6pm and were kicked out of the pub at 1am!
3) Could you give us the story of the proposal? Please leave out no details… (Was it a surprise?, Was it elaborate?, How did it make you feel?)
Alex – I wanted the proposal to be a complete surprise, so on our second anniversary of meeting I arranged to go out for dinner at the pub where we first met. I stipulated that we weren’t allowed dessert there though as this was going to be served elsewhere. With the help of our close friends Chris and Nicole I had arranged for a surprise picnic to be laid out at the site of our second ever date, a beautiful hilltop with stunning views. The picnic included champagne, strawberries and of course a ring! After dinner in the carpark of the pub I asked Bronwyn if she trusted me, she foolishly said she did and so I promptly blindfolded her. At the end of the short drive from the pub to the hill we got out and I led her still blindfolded to the site of the picnic, with an amazing sunset as the backdrop. I bent on one knee, with the ring and told her to remove her blindfold…. When she said yes it was by far and away the best moment of my life!
4) Please share what you most love about each other?
Alex – Too many things to pick just one. I love her drive and ambition, the way she makes me laugh, how caring and kind she is and how she puts up with all of my flaws 🙂
Bronwyn – he completes me and balances my craziness. He’s the most caring loving person I’ve ever met and I can’t wait to spend my life with him! and he gives the best bear hugs!
5) If you don’t mind sharing, can you tell me something quirky, funny or silly about your partner? Little habits, something they do…
Alex – The way that she laughs at me for getting emotional over something on TV only to find her secretly crying!
Bronwyn – hes been ‘building a car’ since I met him… I’ve only seen it once in over 3 years and its located 4 hours drive away!! I only found out a little while ago, he’s been ‘building it’ for 8 years!
6) What is your perfect day together? (apart from the wedding day)
A leisurely lie in followed by a healthy breakfast. (huh!!.. pancakes 🙂 Then head out for a nice walk or mountain bike ride, stopping for KFC (the not healthy version!) on the way back. In the evening cuddling up on the sofa with a cup of tea and some freshly baked yorkshire puddings!
7) Apart from the obvious, what are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
Alex – The jester! (Bronwyn: He booked the Jester before we even managed to book a registrar!)
Bronwyn- the speeches and seeing if Alex will tear up 🙂
8) There are so many different wedding styles you can choose from. What is your favourite wedding trend at the moment?
The one we chose, the vintage afternoon tea style.
9) What was it that inspired you to go for the theme or the decor you chose for your wedding?
It was something we both loved the idea of and the end result (we hope) will be a beautiful and interesting venue and table decorations. And any excuse to have lots of cake!
10) Please tell me one thing you wish you had known at the beginning of your wedding planning process?
How quickly things get booked up for a wedding, leaving only 8 months to plan everything was a bit tight!
