This Talton Lodge/Talton House wedding (near Stratford-upon-Avon in Warwickshire) was multifaceted and magnificent. It had elements to it you might only find at one type of wedding and others you would find at another type. At Michelle and Jonny’s wedding. these different elements were pulled together into one, wedding extravaganza! With Talton House, you get the classical, English country manor house wedding venue, with its grandeur and splendour, inside and out. With Talton Lodge, you get the quirky, rustic wedding, with tipis, farm animals, table tennis and bonfires. The owners Barney & Olivia, only do 8 weddings per year at their wonderful venue, which is a REAL shame, as this diminishes my chances of photographing another wedding there. I had an awe-inspiring day and I loved every minute. I can only thank Michelle and Jonny for having faith in me to photograph their wonderful wedding day. Thank you and congratulations!
1) Please tell me how you first met?
Me and Jonny met on a “touch rugby vs ultimate frisbee fun day”. Jonny was social secretary for the touch rugby team and I had just started playing ultimate. The day began at the Tilted Wig pub in Warwick to watch England V Scotland in the Rugby world cup and we proceeded to play both touch rugby and ultimate in the sunshine on a ridiculously hot 1st October! We didn’t talk very much during the day but we got chatting at the social afterwards.

2) When was it you knew they were the one?
Chelle: I don’t think there was a specific time when I knew but after a few months together I just wanted to spend all my time with Jonny!
Jonny: When my Grandma (who is also from Stockport like Chelle) told me Chelle is a nice Northern girl and definitely a keeper

3) Could you give us the story of the proposal?
Jonny picked me up from the train station in Leamington on a normal Thursday evening. I got in the car and was talking about what flavour squash I was going to make when we got home. Jonny was being really quiet and he had got changed out of his work clothes and was wearing aftershave! I quizzed him about this and he calmly brushed if off as a hot busy day in the office so he’d been home before getting me.
When we got back, I was desperate for the loo but Jonny kept stalling to let me in the house. Eventually after a lot of nagging and dancing by the front door, he agreed to let me in but I had to close my eyes, odd I thought but at the time I didn’t have a clue and just wanted to get to the toilet!!
When I came out the downstairs loo, sneaky Jonny had laid rose petals through the hall and in the lounge where I found him surrounded by candles and down on one knee. It was such a surprised and then I felt bad for nearly ruining all the plans!
4) If you don’t mind sharing, can you tell me something quirky, funny or silly about your partner?
Chelle: Jonny is incapable of making a decision quickly, it’s both endearing and frustrating in equal measures. He will often answer questions with “I’ll have a think”.
Jonny: Chelle likes making up silly songs which always put a smile on my face

5) What is your perfect day together?
A lovely day sunny day by the beach in Anglesey, a place we both know very well from our childhoods.

6) Apart from the obvious, what are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
THE BAND (8 piece funk and soul band)….oh wait I mean seeing all our friends and family together….obviously

7) What was it that inspired you to go for the theme or the decor you chose for your wedding?
We don’t really have a specific theme, we just want the day to be fun, colourful and relaxed.

8) Please tell me one thing you wish you had known at the beginning of your wedding planning process, that you could pass on to future bride’s reading this blog?
We had no idea how far in advanced that venues get booked up! Jonny said he might have proposed much earlier if he knew.

9) When searching, what were you were looking for in a wedding venue?
We wanted a venue that was relaxed but that still had a sense of occasion. We looked at venues both in the north west (where the bride is from) and near where we live. Some venues we looked at were just like wedding factories, churning out the same wedding 6 nights a week. Talton Lodge was just so different, the owners Olivia and Barney were so friendly and relaxed when showing us round we felt the venue had a atmosphere and all the food is made my Olivia locally sourced which is going to be amazing!

10) Could you tell me the process you went through when you were looking for a wedding photographer?
We didn’t have a clue what to look for in a photographer or what we should ask, all we knew was that we wanted simple classic photos, no gimmicks. A friend was a bridesmaid at a wedding Duncan had photographed and recommended him. After meeting with several photographers, Duncan, by far had the best photos and was the nicest guy.
