It was a great opportunity to be able to photograph a wedding at The Cowshed at Woodhall Farm. I had never been there before and I LOVE the challenge of a new venue! A lot of brides & grooms get nervous when they hear a photographer has never been to their venue. See what you think below… 🙂
1) Please tell me how you first met?
I first saw Alex in the gym. I had no idea at first who he was, or where he was from, but I managed to track him down through the power of Instagram! A follow and a cheeky Snapchat later and the rest, as they say, is history.

2) When was it you knew they were the one?
I knew Alex was the one a long time before I let him know. His wicked, dry sense of humor, quick wit, and positive outlook on life made me feel so at ease with him. On the way back from our first date (quad-biking in Wales) I thought I would feel anxious and would’ve already run out of things to talk about, but being together was so easy and just felt right. That’s when I knew.

3) Could you give us the story of the proposal?
Alex planned a wonderful surprise proposal. It was my birthday and all I had been told was that we were going on a trip; a two-hour flight from London and it will be hot. (very stressful for packing.. what to take!!)
The first day was spent in London, we had dinner at the Dorchester and were joined by my parents; this was a surprise that I knew nothing about.
The next day, my birthday, we took a very early train from London to Paris! We stayed in the hotel we had stayed in on our very first breakaway, but this time in the Presidential Suite. We had a fantastic day, breakfast at the Louvre and shopping in the City. Back at the hotel, Alex gave me my birthday present, a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes. I was over the moon, so off I went to get ready for dinner so I could wear my new shoes.
When we were ready we were taking some photos in the amazing hotel room, Alex told me to look inside a little bag he had put on the coffee table, inside was a little black box…. I managed to get out the word ‘yes’ amongst floods of tears!

4) If you don’t mind sharing, can you tell me something quirky, funny or silly about your partner?
Alex always changes the words to songs. So whenever I hear that song, I always think of him!

5) What is your perfect day together?
I would say getting up really early, heading out on an adventure in the car and getting to our destination before the rest of the world has even started to wake up. Getting coffee and just talking to each other is my favourite, spending the day walking around and exploring and then heading back in the afternoon to get a healthy dinner and chill and watch films in the evening.

6) Apart from the obvious, what are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
Apart from marrying the love of my life, I am so looking forward to having all of our families and friends together to celebrate with lots of good food and drink. We will also be remembering those who cannot be with us.

6) What was it that inspired you to go for the theme or the decor you chose for your wedding?
We have chosen a theme that matches our personalities. We both enjoy the finer things, designer clothes, handbags and shoes, posh cars and holidays in the South of France, but we also love the countryside, adventures, shooting and walking. So, with this in mind, our yin yang concept was born. Crisp white linens and sparkling glassware clashing with the rustic venue and intense woodland surroundings seemed to fit just right.

8) Please tell me one thing you wish you had known at the beginning of your wedding planning process, that you could pass on to future brides reading this blog?
Just breathe, everything will fall into place, and always go with your gut feeling.

9) When searching, what were you were looking for in a wedding venue?
“When you know, you know”. Alex and I had visited a lot of venues, all of which were lovely, but there was always a ‘but’. When we met Lucy at The Cowshed, we instantly felt at home. Everything about the venue was just ‘right’ and the fact that we have been able to dress the venue and give everything a personal touch was so important to us.
