1) Please tell me how you first met?
We met at my friend’s sister’s hen do. She was being raucous with the girls. She then saw me standing at the bar and came up to me and started chatting about a mutual friend who had recently passed away. I knew her from school, but I was in the year above her and we never spoke to each other. Jayne said oh you’re that floppy haired geek! Jayne thought she was too cool to talk to me at school as I was a nerd and Jayne is really hot! I enjoyed talking to her and noticed she had some very nice qualities. I then requested her as a friend on Facebook and thought I would try my luck! She accepted my friendship request. We then met up again at the Wedding. Jayne’s eyes lit up when she saw me arrive and I sat by her and we talked all night. Jayne asked me if I wanted a lift home as she was driving. When I told her where I lived, she said oh that’s handy, as she lived just up the road from me! Jayne and her daughter dropped me off later that night and I said we must continue this conversation soon. Jayne knew I went down the local pub regularly and she brought her friend along to see if he thought I was suitable! Jayne walked home with both of us on each arm and then said goodnight. Her friend had a peck on the lips, so I thought I want one too and she obliged. I was then invited round for a cuppa the following morning and we haven’t been apart since.
2) When was it you knew they were the one?
Phil: I thought very quickly that this could be very special as she made me feel wonderful all the time and makes me laugh. I don’t like being apart from her. She makes me feel safe and secure and even though she says she can’t cook, she really looks after me.
Jayne: I feel Phil loves me and honours me. He has been brought up with some lovely morals and is a true gentleman. Nothing is too much trouble for him and he is very attentive to me. He doesn’t play mind games and like myself, what you see is what you get. He is funny but clumsy as hell. I do have to follow him around with a hoover and cleaning wipes though.
3) Could you give us the story of the proposal?
I had been threatening to propose for quite a while… in fact not long after we met. But I finally popped the question just after Christmas playing board games round her parents. They’d always joked to her about not doing anything to scare me off and that hopefully I’d take her off their hands. So I asked her parents if they’d like me to take Jayne off their hands forever!
4) Please share what you most love about each other?
Phil: Jayne is the kindest and most generous person I’ve ever met and she always puts a smile on my face. In fact I always wake up smiling now!
Jayne: He lets me warm my feet on him in bed when I’m cold. I love him playing his guitar to me and sing. He puts up with me watching my soaps and DIY programmes. He makes me cake!!
5) If you don’t mind sharing, can you tell me something quirky, funny or silly about your partner?
Jayne: Phil is a bloody know it all and knows everything and more about the most boring of things!!! I do find it quite funny though and just tell him to shut up! He is extremely loud when he talks to his brother. I need to replace my hearing aid battery when they communicate. I get a lot of ear problems as a result! Hahaha!!
Phil: Jayne is the most impatient person in the world and expects me to do at least 8 tasks at a time. She says I better get used to it as it will get worse when we are married. She is unable to sit still for long but she is very good at getting things done!
6) What is your perfect day together?
Well for me it would be wandering round castles with my camera. For Jayne, it would be walking along a beach while I fetch drinks from the local pub.
7) Apart from the obvious, what are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
Seeing everybody have a good time and share our happy moments. Spend time with family and friends and making the ultimate commitment to my beloved. Hoping we get some lovely photos to remind us of the day even though Jayne doesn’t like being the centre of attention and hates being photographed even by me!
8) There are so many different wedding styles you can choose from. What is your favourite wedding trend at the moment?
We both want low key and quaint.
9) What was it that inspired you to go for the theme or the decor you chose for your wedding?
I’m a cyclist and when we were looking for venues I thought about venues that might be along my training rides in the country. As soon as we saw The Old Vicarage in Shropshire, we fell in love with the place. I’ve rode passed it hundreds of time but never imagined getting married there. We can’t wait for everyone to see it!
10) Please tell me one thing you wish you had known at the beginning of your wedding planning process?
We wished we’d known that renovating and selling a house, plus finishing a degree and planning a wedding might be too much for one year! But we are still having fun and loving every minute!
