I have been looking forward to getting the opportunity for me to add some Crumplebury wedding photography to my portfolio. So it was an honour when Chloe & Hugh invited me to come along to their wedding. We were just heading out of Covid so I think people were ready to party. We had a great time that day and I would recommend that any couples looking for a venue to host their wedding, consider Crumplebury. It is gorgeous!!
Congratulations Chloe & Hugh!
Their Story
1) Please tell me how you first met?
We were lucky enough to match each other on Tinder back in March 2015. When we met, Hugh had just moved to London from Australia and was planning on working in the UK for 2 years then head home… he’s still here 6 years later! Our first date was out to a few bars in Islington, where I introduced Hugh to gin and tonic with cucumber – he was hooked from then on.

2) When was it you knew they were the one?
For both of us, it felt like we were talking to a close friend right from our first date. Hugh says he knew I was the one for him when he took me back to Australia and we were out with some of his close friends. They did their usual jokey grilling of any new person to their group and apparently, I managed to exceed expectations with all his friends, who told him afterwards that I was a keeper. For me, it was Hugh’s similar love of exploring new places. I just knew we would have tons of great adventures ahead of us!

4) If you don’t mind sharing, can you tell me something quirky, funny or silly about your partner?
Chloe is the most elegantly clumsy person I have ever met. A perfect example of this is watching her ski. She will ski down any difficulty slope with ease and grace, then just before she stops at the bottom she will trip over herself and face-plant on the flat snow. Luckily she always manages to laugh at her clumsy incidents.
Hugh without fail laughs the hardest at his own jokes. Tears even sometimes come out from the laughter!

5) What is your perfect day together?
We both love to head off exploring somewhere on a long walk. This usually involves a picnic lunch with a view and then finishing up in a pub for a well-earned drink.

6) Apart from the obvious, what are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
This has been exaggerated even more by the COVID restrictions over the last year, but we are both looking forward to seeing so many family and friends in one place celebrating together. Sadly Hugh’s family and many of his friends are unable to make it from Australia because of the travel restrictions but we are also looking forward to seeing them over Zoom during the ceremony.

7) What was it that inspired you to go for the theme or the decor you chose for your wedding?
We wanted to create a relaxed but stylish look in a farmyard setting. We both love being out in the countryside and were inspired by English wildflowers and our love of being out in nature for the colour scheme. We have gone for greens, yellows and oranges for the flowers and are having long banquet-style tables and sharing platters to keep the meal less formal. For a bit of fun and to celebrate our different nationalities, we planned Aussie beers on ice in wheelbarrows and an English gin bar.

10) Could you tell me the process you went through when you were looking for a wedding photographer?
We spent a lot of time googling photographers that were local to the wedding venue. We looked through lots of portfolios but as soon as we found Duncan’s website we instantly loved his style of photography. We particularly loved how he captures the best parts of the day without people knowing their photo was being taken.
