Well, there goes another year. One more year in the wedding industry and one year older. However, my love of wedding photography is as strong as ever! The challenge of continuously improving, being better, and never resting on your laurels. 2022 was no different in that regard. I was treated to so many new experiences that I will never forget and I met so many new people that I will cherish the memories of.
In 2022, I witnessed a Triceratops enter the drinks reception at Curradine Barns, and a field of cattle chased us at one of Gloucestershire’s finest, Pauntley Court. We were threatened by a militant ram, who was taking no prisoners at Mickleton Hill Farms, also in Gloucestershire.
I was also lucky enough to be invited to photograph a wedding in Pennsylvania, USA. We were there just as the leaves were turning all kinds of reds and yellows. It was stunning! …and it was super interesting to be able to see how they do it on the other side of the pond. Suffice it to say, it did not disappoint!

I had all the weather you could throw at me…well, apart from snow of course. We don’t get snow anymore. There were weddings on record-breakingly hot days, which caused the rubber focusing grip to literally melt off one of my lenses. Occasionally we get rain at weddings too. Normally on a rainy wedding day, the weather is sporadic and usually comes and goes throughout the day.
At one wedding, the rain was travelling sideways instead of down, and it stayed like that all day. I felt sorry for the couple, but they were such a positive couple, it did not phase them in the slightest. They had a blast!!

One of my favourite weddings of the year was a Talton Lodge & Talton House in Warwickshire. The day was full of happy, good-time vibes all day. I mean, Talton Lodge & Talton House is amazing! I wish I could do all of my weddings there but they only do 8 weddings per year, so it is very exclusive.
With Talton Lodge & Talton House, you get a more traditional country house in Talton House, and then you transition over to Talton Lodge for a teepee wedding reception.
This particular wedding had a music festival theme, where bands played, people danced in the field and even the itinerary was printed on a festival-style lanyard. It was so much fun!

In 2022, I visited Blakelands Country House in Staffordshire for the first time. The welcome I received from the venue and the guests were second to none.
The warm, loving atmosphere really sticks in my memory. Weddings are all about love, but what I saw that day really stuck with me. Real emotion! I could see how, at some points, the whole wedding party would disappear and they would be wrapped up in each other, enjoying the moment. It was so beautiful to see….

Disaster! My car got a flat tyre driving to this wedding. I have never had to deal with this before in all of my career. Unfortunately, my car has one of those temporary puncture repair kits. These are great if there is a small hole, but when I put the fluid in, it ran all over the road. Luckily for me, the parents of the bride were driving by at his point and picked me up. I ditched my car and the RAC man fixed it while I was at the wedding.
So it all worked out perfectly…and the wedding itself was incredible! The Cider Barn couldn’t be any more gorgeous. Just the vibe I love…with loads of beautiful spots for photos. I would love to go again!

Wethele Manor in Warwickshire has consistently been one of my favourite places to photograph weddings…full stop. It has a great atmosphere which is perfect for my style of wedding photography. The staff are always amazing and extremely friendly. To put it simply, I love going there!
I was there a few times last year, but one particular time stood out to me for the party they created. Usually, you can get a feel for what kind of time you are going to have by looking at the family-to-friends ratio. When the scales are tipped in favour of friends, you know you have a party on your hands.
This couple’s wedding had a LOT of friends! There was something going on at all times, everywhere. It was hilarious to watch and even better to photograph. I really had so much fun watching them all enjoy themselves, it was great. I look forward to more like this!!

After an amazing year, I am very much looking forward to what 2023 will bring. I wish you all an amazing year to come. If you are a 2022 bride and groom and I did not mention your wedding, apologies, I wanted to get this out before the gongs and I just wrote what came to mind. I had an amazing time at each and every wedding I went to this year and I wish you all the best for the future!
If you are yet to be married, please do not hesitate to send me an email. I would be happy to help in any way I can.
