Curradine Barns Wedding Photography
Back doing Curradine Barns wedding photography again and I love it! I always look forward to a visit to Curradine. There is something lovely about a barn wedding that brings out the best in people. There is a tendency for the guests to feel more relaxed and let their hair down. As a reportage wedding photographer, this is what I love. People enjoying themselves and forgetting I am even there… you can’t beat that! Emma & Tom’s wedding did not disappoint in that regard. You only have to look through the photos below to see this! Their wedding was awesome fun and I felt honoured to be invited…
Also, I wanted to make a special mention to some of the suppliers. I have worked several times with Helena (hair) & Sasha (makeup) during bridal prep. They are always super lovely to work with and inject a bit of fun into the wedding morning. Lydia (flowers) was involved here too. You won’t find a lovelier florist this side of the Servern. haha! …and finally DJ Ed Steelefox for providing the banging tunes into the evening. He always keeps the dancefloor full with his seamless mixes. Top bloke too!! Yes…I am totally aware of the fact that none of that last sentence was as cool as it should have been. haha!

About Emma & Tom…
1) Please tell me how you first met? The what, when, where’s and how’s?
It was September 2010, we met at a sixth form party at Newtown club and we started speaking from then. It was a couple of months after speaking to each other every day that we finally became a couple.
2) When was it you knew they were the one?
We can’t think of a particular moment of when we knew each other was the one, but it’s never crossed our minds that we would ever be apart. It’s like we always knew rather than a revelation.
3) Could you give us the story of the proposal?
It was Sunday 2nd July, I had woken up early in the morning, and Tom came upstairs he was really trying to get me to go downstairs and convinced me with the idea of breakfast. He rushed down the stairs before I had a chance to get out of bed. As I left the bedroom to walk down the stairs the stairs were lined with photographs and candles. After saying what’s going on what have you done, I reached the bottom of the stairs where Tom was standing. He gave a lovely speech of how he loved me got down on one knee with my beautiful engagement ring in hand … how could I say no!
Tom: Getting up at 5 o clock in the morning and not making a sound was a nightmare!
4) If you don’t mind sharing, can you tell me something quirky, funny or silly about your partner?
This started from when Tom was a baby – if he is excited about something his hands go into fists and he tenses.
Emma tenses very similarly when she’s around dogs! She also isn’t superstitious but never tempts fate (Won’t walk over drains, or under road signs etc.) Something that I don’t do anymore either, even when Emma’s not around. Not because I believe it but out of habit, I used to get told off for doing it when she was around!
5) What is your perfect day together?
We enjoy just sitting in our pyjamas, watching Netflix with good food, but really any day spent together is a perfect day.
6) Apart from the obvious, what are you most looking forward to on your wedding day?
Tom: Cake.
Emma: I knew he would say that! But for me, it’s spending the day with our family and friends. And also Cake.
7) What was it that inspired you to go for the theme or the decor you chose for your wedding?
We haven’t really got a theme, we think Curradine Barns is so beautiful it didn’t need a theme. Any decorations we have are of a rustic style which we think suits the barn beautifully.
8) Please tell me one thing you wish you had known at the beginning of your wedding planning process, that you could pass on to future bride’s reading this blog?
The planning is never-ending. I’m sure we will still be coming up with dreaded table plans long after our wedding is over!
9) When searching, what were you were looking for in a wedding venue? Did location play a part? If so why? ….and why did you chose the one you did?
Exclusive use was something we really wanted on the day. I didn’t want to be a part of multiple weddings. We knew Curradine was the one for us as soon as we walked in, it is so beautiful and we are blown away every time we visit.
10) Could you tell me the process you went through when you were looking for a wedding photographer?
We always wanted beautiful natural photos. I met Duncan at the Stanbrook Abbey wedding fayre, a week after we got engaged and knew instantly that he would be our photographer. His photos are stunning, and he has such a wonderful way with people. I showed Tom his website and we arranged a meeting with Duncan. As soon as Tom saw his portfolio we booked him there and then.
